The lushness of summer’s full green when there is only a ribbon of water; fall’s golden Aspens, backlit by early morning and late afternoon’s glow; trees that glisten with frost and ice against the Cerulean blue sky. This is the New Mexico that Stockwell passionately portrays in her art.

Laurinda Stockwell’s award-winning art is exhibited internationally in museums and collections. Her current paintings are based upon her observations while hiking the Santa Fe Forest. For this series, she paints trees as subject matter, symbolizing strength, resilience and time. Her art poses such questions and observations as: how many times will we experience the first, tender green shoots of spring, appearing with hope and faith in the uncertain days of April, or the early fruit blossoms that appear every year, but are often taken by one cold night?
